11.4 MOLECULAR FORMULA FROM EMPIRICAL FORMULA & MOLAR MASS
To determine the molecular formula of a compound we need to know not only its empirical formula but also its molar mass or relative molecular mass. Molar mass can be determined experimentaly for volatile substances from measurements of mass and volume using routine methods.
